The next project was to design a new identity for Translink (which is the main public transport company in Belfast). From the get go I researched any existing Translink booklet/ leaflet/website image/ bus pass I could find to establish what has been done before and what has failed in my opinion. I didn't want to go for something too obvious either. Even though I'm not very happy with my overall design due to my lack of adventure, I quite like my ideas behind the colour schemes. If the project had ran longer than 2-days I'd hope to come up with something better. However, working as a graphic designer hugely requires working to short deadlines .....so, ultimately this was a rather helpful project.
I was experimenting with type/ plus failing to make up my own letter with the pen tool in Illustrator. In the second design of the 't' I wanted to try and introduce the length of journey each form of transport took, e.g Pink metro bus has a slim block of colour because of its shorter distances etc.
I liked the simple structure I introduced in the top left-hand design. The soft colour code seemed friendly, and would have attracted all audiences. Even though there is a lot of different forms throughout this image, I still wanted to maintain some similarity- yet still offer choices.
