Group Project Exhibition

So, my class have been divided up into groups of 3-4 as part of a big project to create an exhibition around Belfast. Our brief included a sample of different themes for us to choose at our will. Some examples were - 'Technology', 'Sustainability', 'Globalism' and 'Handmade'.

We as a group initially picked globalism and planned to create an exhibition in the awareness of Public transport and cycling. This idea was to base around the involvement of Global Warming- and we even thought of how advertising could be used with the use of bicycles, such as a bicycle billboard etc. HOWEVER we quickly realised that we couldn't find enough information or confidence with this idea.

Our new and FINAL idea is going to be about how Sustainable products/ materials may be used or re-used to create an awareness towards fellow graphic designers. We liked the idea of perhaps creating a new typeface using other forms of material that graphic designers could work with- such sustainable materials could include plant extracts, glass/ plastic bottles etc etc. We as a group have divided up which form of media to experiment with in order to gain an understanding for our final piece ( I am researching how to use Plant Material for new letter forms).

My group have decided that in order for our project to be a success, we are going to present our final piece as a 'Workshop'. For example, each experiment we do will be video / photographed / made or blogged about on our newly created website. This way it will let us be able to not be afraid if a certain final Piece of our work doesn't turn out as planned. Therefore, we will eventually have a lot of experimental work in the end result!

To be Continued......
